INTERAKT is a Stuttgart-based, artist-led platform for transdisciplinary performing arts, founded in 2017 by Belarusian flutist and political activist Maria Kalesnikava and Ukrainian singer and conductor Viktoriia Vitrenko, later joined by German theatre director and performer Jasmin Schaedler and other international artists from various disciplines.
Since its founding, INTERAKT has realised over 35 national and international projects and more than 230 cultural events – including performances, workshops and hybrid formats. The initiative focuses on experimental music, performance and music theatre, frequently addressing socio-political themes and fostering collaboration across disciplines, institutions and international communities – with a particular emphasis on artists from Eastern Europe.
Accessibility is central to INTERAKT's artistic practice, understood not as an add-on but as an aesthetic principle. Projects such as VOX EX NIHILO and Gebärden der Geschichte – in which sign language and spoken language coexist as equal artistic forms – and Second Skin (2026), an inclusive participatory fashion art project in which people with visible and invisible disabilities collaborated as co-designers and performers, exemplify this commitment to inclusive formats that enrich the work for all audiences.
INTERAKT regularly stages work in unconventional spaces to reach new audiences, holds workshops to foster sociocultural dialogue, and promotes democratic movements and cultural exchange – particularly in relation to Belarus and Ukraine.
