Viktoriia Vitrenko is an acclaimed Ukrainian soprano, conductor and curator. Her debut album "Scenes" (2019, AUDITE) with chamber music by György Kurtág won the Supersonic Pizzicato Award and was nominated for the German Record Critics Award (PdSK-2019) and International Contemporary Music Awards 2020 (ICMA 2020). On August 2024 her second CD production “Forgotten Word I Wished to Say” with music by Valentin Silvestrov was released by Sony Classical.

„Himmel über Adelsheim“ zum Strahlen gebracht”: [...] Berührend der kraftvolle Chorgesang, der innige Geborgenheit, Heimat und Nähe greifbar machte, ebenso wie die gefühlvolle Begleitung des Kammerorchesters unter Viktoriia Vitrenkos temperamentvollem Dirigat, das im Übrigen alle Rap-Songs musikalisch mitgestaltete. [...] Scheinbar mühelos in Klanghöhen katapultiert, erwartete Vitrenko und ihren Duettpartner „wie eine trübe Wolke“ eine düstere „Einsamkeit.“ [...] Klassische Streicherklänge, fetzige Rhythmen, auf der Leinwand ein Blick in eine Zelle und immer wieder das Wort „Paradies“ sowie die flehentliche Bitte: „Es tut mir leid, Mama, verzeihe mir“, gingen unter die Haut und ließen die Funken auf’s Publikum überspringen.

“Der lange Weg ins Paradies” [...] Die Musikerinnen und Musiker spielen allerdings virtuos und mit einer Emphase, die auch Viktoriia Vitrenko als temperamentvolle Dirigentin einfordert. Sie nähert sich beiden Musikstilen mit extrem präzisen Gesten (was die Jugendlichen unbedingt brauchen), aber auch hoch emotional. … Hinter Rap, Schubert und Smetanas erstem Streichquartett ist eine Sehnsucht: nach Freiheit, nach Vergebung, nach Nähe und Zärtlichkeit. Im einstimmigen Duett mit Noel verleiht Viktoriia Vitrenko Schuberts “Einsamkeit” eine anrührende Zerbrechlichkeit.

MAKING wavES

The women's vocal ensemble "Making waves" (artistic director - Viktoriia Vitrenko) was founded in 2010 in Kiev, Ukraine, as a spin-off of the student choir "KPI". After only a few months, the singers made their debut on the stage of the Lviv Organ Hall with "La petite fille sage" from "Petites voix" by Francis Poulenc. ︎︎︎

The duo PITS [Pearl in the Shell] consists of two Ukrainian musicians (Vitaliy Kyianytsia — piano and Viktoriia Vitrenko — voice), who move in the field of new and improvised music. ︎︎︎
